View Full Version : A couple of changes in the forum

You might notice the forum looks just a little different than what it did before. Since I'm pretty much the only moderator left around here (the others haven't been here in ages and thefolenangel is quitting Franky House), so it's up to me to run this place now.

I've gotten rid of some of the excess stickies that nobody was really posting in anyway. You'll also see I changed the name of the thread that used to say 'post here, don't make a new thread for every question' so it now says 'post here, but feel free to make a new thread too'. Basically if you want to make a post asking a minor question then that's okay. I've also changed up the opening post in the thread about the links to raws and scanlations. I think it makes it a lot more easier to read, plus I got rid of that annoying green text at the bottom.

I've moved most of the more recent posts from the general discussion thread into a new thread dedicated to fan fiction. So you can do all the talking about that part of it in that thread, which hopefully you will, cause it's a sick subject. I edited some of your posts (Weview and GrrDraxin) so that they make a lot more sense that way, hope you don't mind. I'll probably do the same if there are any other posts that start forming their own 'thread' in the general discussion. So hopefully we can use it as more of a general discussion thing. While this is a forum devoted to Rosario to Vampire we do form our own sort of 'community' seperate from the other parts of the forum, so if you want to post something kind-of off-topic-ish in the general discussion thread it'll be fine. For all intents and purposes we can use it as a hangout thread (cause I don't want to create another thread just for the same purpose).

I'll also be trying to think of some ways that we can increase the activity in the forum, but I'll come back to that at a later time.

Finally I was just wondering just how many people are actually using this forum. I could try and go trawling through the general thread but that would take forever. So I'd just like you to make a post here telling me that you browse/post in this forum so that I can have a general idea.

Thanks, Lingwe

...i posts in the forum...when i have time .___. this is what i was supposed to say...right? Q.Q

max mahito

I do post daily.

Lingwe
07-09-2009, 04:09 PM
Yeah guys just like that. I just need to be able to count how many people there are ;).

max mahito
07-09-2009, 04:10 PM
are you venicia?

Lingwe
07-09-2009, 04:15 PM
My username wouldn't be Lingwe if I was Venicia...

max mahito
07-09-2009, 04:16 PM
no, i came to know that venicia is visting the forum under secret profile and username.

Nyuu
07-09-2009, 04:24 PM
...she/he is? .___.

max mahito
07-09-2009, 04:28 PM
yes.
she/he is making some secret visits.

Lingwe
07-09-2009, 04:28 PM
No, I some how doubt that would be the case. I mean I don't see why he would do that.

And yes, Venicia is a he...I kind of accidentally mistook him for a woman at first.

max mahito
07-09-2009, 04:31 PM
maybe you are right lingwe.
because i came to know that by a means i don't trust.
so i asked for the confirmation.

Lingwe
07-09-2009, 04:34 PM
It's just that Venicia has had to go to the hospital a lot recently and so doesn't spend much time on the forums any more. So I don't see why he would create a secret account just to snoop around the forum for the lulz.

Burning Willow

Can I ask what you mean by... "counting the people"?

Lingwe
07-09-2009, 04:41 PM
I'll go through the thread and count the number of different people that post.

max mahito
07-09-2009, 04:42 PM
and thanks for the confirmation translator.

I post here; a long time ago I used to live in this section.

Yasu

Wow.

Since I am new to these forums I didn't know about the declining number of people that are coming onto the forum recently. I am saddened to hear that quite a bit of the staff here have already been leaving the forums. If I could ask a question here, was the decline in staff due to external problems in their lives? Or was it simply the staff members didn't really like to be involved with Franky House anymore?

A lot of people in various groups have been having problems with the keeping of its staff members.

LordRichardWellington
07-09-2009, 07:09 PM
Well, it's more like R+V became a once a month thing, crap happened in peoples's lives yada yada. Also, this decline has been over like a year in the making. But I am certain that visitors will once more populate this site.

FH has just gotten a bit slow, but it is still a fun place. ^.^

As long as this place still has people that frequently visit the forums, then coming here and chatting with everyone isn't such a bad thing. This is one of the main things that I look for in a forum before I decide to take the time and register here. I dislike the way some forums are after you have completed the registration. I have been on plenty of forums where after registering to the site, you slowly find out that not many people frequently visit the site at all. Hell, I was lucky if only the same few people visited the site at all. At that point in time I am starting to think, "What is the purpose of continuing to visit this site at all?"

It would be more advantageous of me to find another site to visit and chat on.

07-09-2009, 09:13 PM
yes in the year i have been here the main people that run the site have left due to outside life and what not but like richard said the manga's are slowing down so we really dont need as many people to clean and translate anymore so some people just leave

Yasu
07-09-2009, 09:52 PM
Yeah, that is true about manga's slowing down in their releasing. Everyone in the world are beginning to have a hard time with everything that is happening in life. Too bad the manga's being scanlated aren't coming out as fast as they used to.

There was a time when the traffit here was too much even as it made it a full tme job to keep up with new posts.

I know, I was part of that golden age. Yeah more people came here when we actually released 6-7 different chapters a day haha XD. We just need a breather, and a wave new peeps to work with. I'd personnaly form joint projects with other groups... that way we could do more.

LordRichardWellington
07-10-2009, 04:16 AM
I miss the Golden Age. It was a surpremely good time.

starwarsdude
07-10-2009, 04:20 AM
but like b-one said if you really wanted things to pick up team up with other sites for work and projects so people keep coming in

weview
07-10-2009, 01:10 PM
Good job Lingwe.

Is it just the forum moderators that are gone or have some of the scanlation staff given up as well?

max mahito
07-10-2009, 01:54 PM
Golden Age what's that?

weview
07-10-2009, 02:21 PM
I've got spare time ahead. I could give scanlating a go if you're low on staff?

max mahito
07-10-2009, 02:57 PM
if you are interested, you can apply in recruitments board, weview.

weview
07-10-2009, 03:48 PM

I haven't applied yet on account of being away for a week from tomorrow. I'll download the tests maybe and bring them with me.

i know what you guys are saying about the releases slowing down.......some months F-H doesnt even release FMA but then other months they release it a few days after it comes out.

Lingwe
07-11-2009, 04:05 AM
Good job Lingwe.

Is it just the forum moderators that are gone or have some of the scanlation staff given up as well?

At the moment there are only a few active moderators. The two in Thriller Bark, one in the arts section, one in the Skip Beat forum, and one in the One Piece section. Oh and the guys in the releases part of the forums. Other than that the other 'moderators' who are listed haven't been on for months or even a year in some cases.

As for the scanlation staff who left, there was a little thing a few weeks ago that got Dark Sin upset so he left, and then some other things coalesced and that made thefolenangel leave. Still there are some trainees who are working hard so hopefully things will get better.

It would be good if Venicia could be online more :(

starwarsdude
07-11-2009, 04:22 AM
well if you guys need mods i could help i mean im online enough to be of some use by now

Lingwe
07-12-2009, 03:46 AM
Try sending a pm to Munkkiman expressing your interest. She actually made a post in the moderator board asking if another person could be added to the Thriller Bark moderators as she says DarkBlood isn't on so much and she would like some help. Then again, we can't actually decide/make people moderators ourselves, so don't expect it to happen instantly.

starwarsdude
07-12-2009, 04:02 AM
munkkiman is a dude

max mahito
07-12-2009, 04:28 AM

starwarsdude
07-13-2009, 06:01 AM
uh one reason b-one i cant install a torrent photoshop never understood how too

Yasu
07-13-2009, 07:42 AM
Why not try to use Gimp instead?

Lingwe
07-13-2009, 12:49 PM
I think you can use Gimp to typeset (at least it is relatively simple to figure out how), not so sure about cleaning. All the tutorials seem to be for photoshop.

max mahito
07-14-2009, 07:04 AM
yeah!
for photoshop!

Yasu
07-14-2009, 09:13 PM
Well, Gimp was based off of Photoshop, but was meant to be a free version of it so that anyone could use it. At least it is cheaper to get it than the latest version of Photoshop.

MidnightTide
07-14-2009, 11:28 PM
people still buy software?

max mahito
07-15-2009, 02:31 AM
yes in some countries.

Znail
07-15-2009, 02:38 AM
Software are priced with coorporations in mind, so are generaly too epensive for a person to buy, althou you can get Phtoshop and such cheap sometimes when bundled with some hardware.

max mahito
07-15-2009, 03:06 AM
i got photoshop with my hard drive..........

Yasu
07-15-2009, 04:42 AM
That is true that you can get Photoshop for cheap sometimes when you buy it in a bundled package. Although, the version of the Photoshop will vary depending on the bundle that you get. For instance, a person can buy a bundle and get Photoshop Elements when in reality they would have liked to have received Photoshop CS4.

Of course, these are the legal routes for getting the program in my country. I know in some other countries their isn't any law against the getting of free software. Which I do admit that sometimes I do ask people for certain favors.

max mahito
07-15-2009, 02:23 PM
we get pirated versions of softwares in our country!

weview
07-16-2009, 11:26 AM
Photoshop 6 works just as well as CSX or any of the new updated versions. Its also easier to use, I find. Of course, you can always go looking on CNET or downloads.nl to find a package.

Yeah, I've noticed a significant number of forum members visiting lately. Hell, some people I use to see nearly daily post here don't post here anymore. I wonder if it's because people have gotten a bit tired of Rosario + Vampire?

I myself do try to post whenever I can, though in the summer I am a bit busy. This is the only forum I visit anyways nowadays. I use to visit a number of Gaming forums, but lately I've just left them in disgust. It seems like the online gaming community has gotten worse over the years, especially with the Call of Duty and Valve community. Anytime I have an opinion different from anyone else's they say "Stop whining" or "STFU noob" or "Call the whaaaaaaambulance", and I've gotten sick of it. And besides, I've had some people in the PC Gaming Community accusing me of being a Pedophile on the basis that I like Anime and Manga. Yeah, makes a whole lot of sense, doesn 't it? :/

Sorry about my gripes, it's been a bit of a rough week for me. At least Call of Duty World at War Map Pack #2 is being released for free later today for the PC. :D Killing zombies hasn't gotten tiring for me yet. :Jump_Roll:

LordRichardWellington
07-17-2009, 07:37 PM
It isn't that we've gotten bored of R+V but that there is only so much to talk about with a month between chapters.

Yasu
07-17-2009, 08:23 PM
I agree.

It is very hard a lot of times to come up with various discussions for series that don't release something that is weekly. And for those series that don't have very much happening that would/could warrant long debates about everything. Rosario + Vamprie isn't something that I would consider a series that can be constantly talked about without having a period where the discussion is going to reach a stopping point. Nothing much is happening within the latest releases.

We still don't know enough about Fairy Tail to talk about the organization as a whole. We still don't know who the top person of the Fairy Tail organization is. Most of the other girls families haven't been given the same background experience as Mizore's family has been given, so their isn't going to be all that much talk about the girls and their pasts.

Znail
07-18-2009, 12:55 AM
We also talked about alot of stuff way back and its not that interesting to jump through the same hoops :sorry: Else I like the direction the manga has right now and dont have that much to complain about :)

LordRichardWellington
07-18-2009, 04:54 AM
Yeah, I remember a time when all hell broke loose about Tsukune have possibly become a vampire in one of the early chapters of the second season.

We debated the hell out of that topic.

weview

I think Rosario + Vampire has lost some of it's charm from the first series. Also, there's only so much you can discuss without repeating old posts. I still try and update the threads as much as possible though.

Yasu
07-19-2009, 06:02 PM
Well, having some forum members coming here every once in a while is better than having no forum members visiting the site at all. Perhaps, when something major gets revealed in the future, the forum may become flooded with visitors once more.

weview
07-23-2009, 04:13 PM
Yeah. The story has slowed down considerably. I can imagine they have a third season to get through after the second as well (I think thats how schooling works in Japan. Not so sure though)
