What kind of music are you into?

I wonder what kind of music do you manga-readers like to listen to. I mean, music is the universal language, even if you don't know what on earth they're saying.

Me, im pretty much a fan of alternative/punk rock. I guess it's because I'm a teenager, thats why. But I just listen to songs that are upbeat, something that keeps you awake. But I detest rap (sorry people who like rap).
So share your thoughts on what types of songs/music you like.

I'm an allround type of music-listener. Just love music. Classic, rock, pop, folk,.... you name it, I listen to it. ^^ But it greatly depends on my mood though, sometimes I'm into folk, an other time you'll catch me listening to a rockband,... i would have to go with progressive/power metal and spanish rock. that would be something like Iron Maiden and Cuca. but i also listen to other stuff like rap, mostly the old stuff though.

Same thing here! :p It depends on my moods. Got a hippie trance mood a while back and discovered Juno Reactor. I just don't really appreciate super heavy Death Metal. But I don't really consider that music. More like trash noises...Same thing with heavy "commercial" rap. But even having said that...some songs in these categories are good...at a certain time. :o

I totally agree with you B-one. So I take it you also know Psychedelic Trance (or Goa-trance) music? Ever been to a goa-party?? They're really cool! Illegal, but cool. XDDD

For the ppl who don't know goa's; a goa party is illegal because a big part of the ppl who go to it take drugs, not always the heavy stuff, but just enough to make your head nice and light. It mostly takes place in abandoned spots, like an old factorybuilding or an abandoned mansion, even in nature; like the side of a lake or in the woods. ^^
Mostly the environment is decorated too; with a lot of fluorescent drawings and flashy colours. There are also almost always comfy place, like a sit corner with nice fluffy pillows and chairs, or an area where you can sleep in hammocks...

Why sleep, you ask? It's because those parties usually last for 12-18 hours (!), there are even goa's that last for 3 days! But the longer it lasts, the more dangerous it becomes that the police will find out... A measure to prevent that from happening is that you have to be told where the party takes place. And only a short period before it starts, you are notified where it takes place...

So to get back on topic: the music they play there, mostly is Psychedelic Trance. XD

And just to let you know: I don't do drugs! Drugs are bad! Stay away from them! But do visit a goa sometime in your life, it really is a crazy experience! The atmosphere is very nice there, and you still can have lots of fun even without the drugs! Hehe ^^

Yeah Goji I know Goa trance and Psy Trance and it's awesome. I totally understand the sleeping thing XD. Never been to a Goa party, well never heard of any near where I live... got to go to India someday. For those who don't know... Goa is India's smallest state and it's where Trance goa originated in the 70's. This kind of musique is associated to drugs because Goa was a kind of Hippi State where people would go, listen to music and use drugs. I don't do drugs, I think drugs are stupid. I don't need any substance to get high. I love this music and those who don't know what it is should really listen to some one day. In my opinion, it's the best kind of music if you want creativity. I often listen to psy trance when I have a written work to hand out soon. It's a great help. Each song is like a story. You live in that story while you listen to it. Gotta love trance :p

I like 'rock bands' (i.e. Breaking Benjamin, Good Charlotte, RJA, etc.) and I love listening to ballads -- especially Japanese ones! xD (like Olivia Lufkin's songs and Yuna Ito's songs and Utada's songs). Speaking of Olivia, she's probably my favorite singer! Her voice is incredible! But Utada is my idol <3* (^ 3^)

I actually like any genre except metal/death metal/hard rock, but I like classical rock and I guess pre-90s rock. I've gone through a lot of music phases. I'm currently in a Korean/Chinese music phase and have been for a few years now.

I'm a bit more into Metal and most of the genres that are somewhat the same style. Can't beat Gothenburg Metal (Melodic Death Metal is probably a better name to give it, but it did originate from here! ;D)!

I mostly prefer metal, and it's more insane darker variations, but i also listen to anime OST-s a lot. I listen to all kinds of music tho, i'm not bound by genres, well the only exception is trance/techno and the similar ones.

I'm a huge fan of music in general, basically my rule is: if the musician is talented, I'll probably like it. Some of my favorite artists include Telefon Tel Aviv, Aphex Twin, and Pendulum for electronica, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin for classic rock, Minus the Bear and Circa Survive for some modern softer stuff, I could go on... :P

My favorite band of all time has to be Between the Buried and Me, which is a... err... progressive-melodic-hardcore-metalcore-jazz-death metal... they're hard to pin down. But they're incredible. If you've been turned off of heavy stuff (screaming, growling, etc.) before, you should try to give these guys a listen ;). Check out:

Music that I'm into currently.. Let's see. Probably some little rap and hip-hop, mainly. Somehow, those genre are the ones that I'm into.

I'm an 80s man, mega metal head who air guitars more often then I need to. I also enjoy 70s (Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, ect) and some 60s (Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, ect).

But mainly the eighties Thrash metal and traditional metal type of person.

What I don't like in metal is Death and Black metal (Except Venom and King Diamond), which gives Heavy metal music a bad name in my honest opinion.

Not a big fan of country but I find it tolerable. Despise Rap, Death metal, and pop with a passion (Which isn't to say I think the music sucks. I can understand the talent the artists of these genres produce, but I can't enjoy it).

I can go on for god knows how long about music, but I don't want to make a text wall.
