Well, they covered alot of ground, but not nearly enough. I'm starting to fear there may not be a practice as Katsuki and Mizuki scene. v.v
I thought they actually wove the episode together pretty well, but there were some parts that felt too drawn out to me. Then again that's probably because I really wanted to see the "private rehearsal" scene. -.-;;
I actually really liked Kyoko's voice throughout this episode, and her little acting to herself bits, they were pretty cute. So overall I like this episode, but I think I'd feel less apprehension if it were episode 23 and they still had 2 left...
Oh well, one more week of SB anime.

i have absolutely no idea what they're going to be covering for the next episode!!! the previews were so vague.
but sadly... the previews said "last stage" so i have no idea what they're going to put in.
i love ogata when he was "drowning in his own tears", i was shocked... i thought at least that this episode would have ended with at least with the part of dinner that yashiro arranged for them - in the more hurried version in my mind. i'm no longer expecting anything from the last episode... i'll just take it how it is and enjoy the manga.

I thought they would combine the Yashiro arranged dinner with the acting practice scene. Kyoko goes to his house to make dinner and they end up practicing or something. Unless 25 is an hour long (I can dream can't I?) I just don't see it making the cut.

nah... i doubt it will ever be that long. but unless that 1% chance that will happen, i'm actually no longer looking forward to it. but i will wake up at four in the morning my time just to watch it anyway. it's just annoying.

maybe there will be a second season?

If so, it wouldn't be until fall. And I highly doubt it, usually it would have been planned from the beginning. As obsessed as we all are, I don't think SB is quite as popular as we'd like it to be. -.-;;

Whether they have a second season likely isn't even decided yet. So whatever the last episode is, it will have the feeling of an 'end', even if to we manga fans it seems wrong or abrupt or unfinished. They'll have to leave themselves options to leave it finished or continue it, both.
I'm baffled, too. There is so much to cover before Ren can get his Katsuki going, and now that they've shown him failing at it, they kind of have to show him succeeding in the end, or he'll look like a loser. (Or it will just seem totally incomplete.) So what? Is Ren going to talk to Kyoko a while longer, realize he loves her, and run straight off to act Katsuki? It almost seems like that has to happen, with only one show left.
Well, I was never a fan of the anime anyway. It turned out 'okay', which is better than I expected, but it's still no patch on the manga.
EDIT: I posted this at the same time as deddinty so I didn't see her post first. But deddinty, I really don't think they actually do plan a second season from the beginning, most of the time. I think they might have vague ideas for the second season but they don't move on it until they see how the first season did.

well, I'm guessing there will be no practice scene, Ren realized at the end of this episode that he likes Kyoko.
They will probably do the test scene for the president, the conversation between him and hte president in the limo (where he finally puts two and two together himself), and Kyoko giving Ren the Blue stone, thus coming full circle.
remember, not only does Ren figure he likes Kyoko, she finally realizes that, maybe, Ren doesn't hate her (reference ch. 75).
That would give this season enough closure just in case there is no second season.
I'm still hoping for a second season, the stuff they are doing now with Sho has no purpose until well after this arc.

i agree with secret. the anime is ok. i thought it would be great since the first few episodes followed the manga almost to the letter but when they started with the prisoner arc, i started getting frustrated because of the things they cut. the manga is way better.
@Secret that scenario you just proposed is sad for an ending. kinda made ren more motivated by his love for kyoko rather than his love for acting and kyoko.
my beef with it is that i pimped this show to a lot of my friends as one of the best series i've ever read/watched. none of them are really fans of the manga since most of them are guys. thing is, if they get a lukewarm ending for the season, i lose. since it's not going to end with something substantial like most anime do - since most of the guys i know ended up watching it because they like kyoko and the humor.
for now, i just see two possibilities:
- a "feeling" of an ending, which may get into the route of an anime only ending (or just something that would feel like an ending from the katsuki arc). i'm actually expecting this but always thought that it would end with chapter 78. but since that's virtually impossible now, i don't know where they're going to end this. i would prefer a feeling of an ending though. the tricky thing about an anime only ending is that the possibility of a second season is near impossible since it's going to be hard to pick up where it left off.
-a cliffhanger which may be an indication of a second season or an OVA. a friend of mine suggested an OVA may be in order to make the dark moon sim game work, but i've seen worse stuff (i.e. steamier) in other anime for that sim game to be considered for an OVA, especially with the timeslot it has.

Hmm, I would rather cut out the test scene instead of the practice night! So I am going to hope for that. It is possible to get both scenes if they cut them down alot, and I think thats the more proboble way they will do it. Maybe if they already got aproval for a second season, then they may skip having an ending to this season.

What i am expecting is that kyoko and Ren will practice on the night of their dinner together. However it will only show the dinner.
Then when Ren has his test he will have the flash backs of the practice, only thing i cna think of

Since it looked like they were really taking their time with it now (Mio's trial took one whole proper episode) I thought rumours of 41 episodes might be true, but now I'm really disappointed!!!!!! I don't know how they'll have enough time in one episode to do everything and not rush. I think they might be able to do it (if they took out the second Bo appearance, didn't have an opening and did some stuff during the credits, like they usually do in finales) but if it's just scene after scene strung together and rushed it won't be any good :(.
Now I'm kind of grumpy. Why'd we even get a new opening for like, 4 episodes? I hope we'll get a second season but do they usually make a point of saying that it's the final episode if it's only the end of the season? I can't really think of anything immediately that has done that, and they should at least know by now if they'll make one, right? Um, I think that Skip Beat is actually really popular even in Japan though.
Haha, maybe if we're lucky they'll make the Vie Ghoul part into a movie :D I seriously think they could do it, it was a fairly long arc, had an antagonist, involved all major characters...I can TOTALLY imagine it. :Hoppity_Hop:

lol they could certainly do that, though it would lack the creativity of most anime movies without a few anime only charecters and a new plot.

My impression has been that anime NEVER have a second season, unless it was already very popular and it was planned as an ongoing series from the beginning (ie Bleach, Naruto, One Peice etc). Even anime series that represent only a small fraction of a much longer manga, where another season could easily be made, don't get one (ie Beserk).

Its not quite that uncommon with a second season, its just required that the anime does decently well. Strictly speaking so is 25 episodes already a second season as alot of animes only goes for 12-13 episodes.
