Hey everybody I'm trying to learn how to clean pages as the title say. I did the ippo chapter 789 raw pg 1 tell me what you think and how I can do it better also is there a way for me to post more pages better when I do more pages for you all to check out thanks in advance for any and all help. O ya BTW I don't have photoshop I did this with Gimp. I couldn't really find any good guides on how to do this with gimp so I just used blud's guides and used the threshold in stead of the levels If theres a better way can someone let me know

Good start - i think. But if i look at your image page 01 u probably are better off with a black and white page(eg bleach or naruto). So why dont you try a page without soo many grey tones first?

Your levelling is bad(page 01) because all grey is almost white now. I post levelling tutorial take a look at it.

Photoshop you can download online(torrent - plenty torrents for photoshop cs2/cs3 are online) or ask somebody here (not me) to send a copy of them photoshop to ya.

redid the cleaning I did before but with photoshop this time. I think the leveling turned out a lot better let me know what you think. Thanks in advance for any advice and feedback.

Well i figured if I wanted to get experience and better feedback that I should just try out a chapter and get feedback from more pics. I never tried posting something on megaupload before so tell me if there is a problem. I figured there where to many pics to post here. Well let me know what you think and what I can do to make it better. Thanks

Simple comments from just looking at images in the spoiler tag. Somebody should get to them with more inspection later.

Your first ippo is the best of the lot. But slightly overlevelled (white) that some of the grey tones(which are closer to white) vanish.

Your second ippo for a beginner is also good. Although you use the burn tool too much here. And levelling went a little bit far (for blacks). The end result - some of the details are lost (eg Makuonichi's face in the last but one panel)

Your third ippo was definately not the best. A combination of too much burning and blackening (from levelling). Grey tones vanish and gets too dark . Detail is lost as a result (just take a look at the last but one panel)

Well.. I dont blame him for the extra dark on the grays, the gray pattern is pretty dotty, leaving alot of white spots in between the gray dots. But yeah, the 3rd page is a bit over leveled. I have pretty much the same comments as veni.
To fix them, just drag the white leveling arrow to the end of the "hill" and then just move the black or gray (not both, or it will cause over leveling) to what you think is good for the page.

why you not compare the page you do to what FH do - i mean the better FH version.
Also Angelz post denoising tutorial using pictures.

So u still use Gimp or photoshop? as i say before if u want photoshop ask FH staff members if u dont want to download them (torrent)

This is your best ippo. Grey tones very nice. So what changes you do this time in your technique? saying what you did can help others later- I think. Like settings you changed or used for levelling, denoising, etc

So now why you not try other pages now- like Naruto that has grey in it and see what happens. and One piece too.

Well when I was trying to do the Ippo before I was increasing the white. Then I figured that the white was already fine so I left it and messed with the gray a bit more. It turned out a lot better and I can kind of see when it's over leveled now. I also just read the fairy tail chapter that was released and think I over leveled that one too I think I'm going to redo some of those pages and try some naruto, bleach, and one piece thanks for the advice so far

But did you use denoising? You no touch the whites at all?

Now i see why the greys are so strong. mAkes the grey look more like naruto grey than Ippo grey. But is really nice. Maybe you touch the whites a little.

so how much time you spend on this page? Be honest - if you not tell truth and you come join FH and you not do pages well and fast people will find you out.

I did denoise with neat image I would say the page took about 25-30 minutes or so.

As always, remember if you are coming to be a slacker just stop right here. if you are going to be committed like all the others to help as much as you can, then you are in. Almost all the staff are in school so u wont be the only one with busy issues to deal with.
