Favorite Manga Genre

hey i wanted to know what manga genre you guys are into reading. for me, ill have to go with seinen manga. my favorite one being Hellsing, i have no idea why but i can't seem to get enough of father anderson and alucard beating each other up and tearing each others limbs apart. other seinen manga that i read are Gantz, Homunculus, King of Thorns, Piano no Mori, and xxxHolic. what about everyone else, whats your favorite manga at the moment and what genre you prefer reading?

Shonen xD Who cares if I'm a girl? (Shoujo isn't bad either though) Hmm my favourites right now are Eyeshield 21, Prince of Tennis and One Piece ^_^ For some reason, I'm into sport mangas... Naruto and Bleach follow... eerrr... far behind.

I'm really spread out on this stuff. I like alot of shounen stuff, but much of it annoys me.
(Naruto after sasuke starts to run, Bleach after they enter Hueco Mundo and the artist decides not to draw backgrounds ever again).

Overall I'm into things that seem like a unique take on a concept. Like One Piece's concept of pirates, Bleach's vision of Shinigami, Naruto and Ninjas, etc. That's what captures me originally. It's how well the author goes from there that determines if I can stomach the entire series through. One Piece hasn't let me down, and Bleach is still alright, aside from it's raping of the Spanish language recently.

As for shoujo, I haven't read a whole ton of it recently. I watch a good bit though. (For the love of god go download Lovely Complex)

i keep seeing that name a lot, lovely complex. is it really that good? i'm not much of a drama/love/shoujo story person, but the first and last one of those that i read was called Emma, which i happened to actually enjoy reading.

Seienen is good, though I'm spread out on the manga topic.

The 3 best manga's i know is One Piece, Berserk and Mahou Sensei Negima! which are 3 very different types off manga. Sports manga's are also good like the ones optimist said Slam Dunk, Hajime no ippo and Eyeshield 21 ^^ from Seinen manga you have to read Battle Royale which is really good, and Gantz is pretty nice too. And Sky is right when it comes to bleach and naruto, they are not that good anymore ( though naruto has kept it up pretty good ^^) from shounen i have to say Fairy Tail and 666 satan ^^

yeah i read many but i seem to like seinen more. i started reading fairy tail right when kefi starting releasing it and it actually looks like its gonna be a pretty big manga. yeah i've read battle royale, quite the gory manga if you ask me ahaha.

btw i just read the first chapter of Shoujo Fight (sports manga) and it really looks interesting. hopefully it continues getting scanlated.

Well my taste is just about Gurenjou's for the most part... A few years ago i was mostly into Shounen, but nowadays it's more 66% - 33% between Shounen and Seinen.

I read: Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Death Note, Slam Dunk, Eyeshield 21, Vagabond, Gantz and Hellsing.

With my all-time favourites being: One Piece and Vagabond! (Even though Death Note and Hellsing are also fighting for a spot in my top 2... ^^; )

hmm dont think i've read a series i havnt liked. But i guess Shounen types is hands down my favorite type i guess. with my favorites being the big three, (one Piece, Bleach, and Naruto), and then Fairy Tale being one of my new favs. Or course things like Death note, and DragonBall are awesome to. One Piece is my fav though, and I forced my friend into getting into it.

My favs are OP, Negima, Fairy Tail(at the moment) and Naruto(although it keep getting worse, I 'm still hoping the recent bad chapters are just a small plan for a big plan). Fairy Tail is doing good but it'll be hard for Hiro Mashima(the author) to make it top ten...It'll need huge plan to make it interesting, otherwise it'll become a monoton story:(.
As for OP and Negima, I can't wait for their next chapters, OP is a very brilliant Manga and I think it's the best manga ever(it'll be hard for the other authors to surpass OP and if someone can do it then I'll give him/her my biggest and longest thanks for entertaining me from this boring, horrible, cruel world).
Negima will do just fine and it could be brilliant(depends on the author) and I think it'll be great because the author is Ken Akamatsu, right? His previous manga(Love Hina) was surprised me enough with its storyline ;)(though it's not as much as OP):D

I agree with you too:D. For DBZ, it becomes favourite in Japan because the other authors like it before they became an author. And if you read and search enough about the author of SX(Samurai X), you'll find out that he was the teacher of Eiichiro Oda(the author of OP).:o

If you like shonen types then ou proably will like Fairy Tale, its pretty awesome the recent chapters have gotten pretty interesting, although its been intersting all along and i was hooked from the begining. The other kinda different manga im reading now that i never mentioned was To-Love-Ru its umm different from most of the other series im reading haha.

woo man dbz was and still is the best. the only reason i read naruto is because it reminds me of goku ahahahaha. btw i've been reading fairy tail since kefi started releasing it and it really is getting better. i can't wait to see what happens to makarov. so far these recently released chapters have kept me on the each of my seat.

Umm, its a magic world, with mages and demons and stuff like that. It reminds me of one piece in a way. there is like mage guilds and mages join them, and it pretty much follows a couple of these mages. They go out and do quest mission things that people request help with. All the chracters have like a cool characteristic about them, ya this isnt coming out very good. Mages, awesome cast of characters, funny, shounen. Honestly if you like One Piece, you'll probably like Fairy Tale.

I definately think that Fairy Tail is better than RAVE but they do ressemble each other a lot. Mix a bit of one-piece here and a bit of DBZ here and you have Fairy tail :p.

Anyway, the manga is monoton(the way Haru, the main character defeats his opponent is almost with the same way except 1 battle which I forgot about :D)
With OP, from the 4th/5th volume(I forgot) I was interested already and I knew it will going to be a great manga :Jump_Roll: and now, I think it is...(IMOP) and I don't care about anyone who doesn't like it. For me, it's the greates manga in my life( unless there's any new manga that can beat it ;))

Well there's Renton, who's dad kinda saved humanity. He trains to be a mechanic or something like that. And he joins a team of well..."air-surf-thingy". And he meets a mysterious girl and fell in love with her. Then find out that she knew his dad... It evolves around a special mecha that they can control together like nobody else. That's about it. Add some if you think I forgot something important^^. No spoilers please. Gotta keep the fun in it:p

the elfen lied manga is a little diffrent in a few places and has another ending so ^^ havn't finished it though since there wasn't scan out for all the chapters when i was reading it and I havn't had the spirit to pick it up again since.

HxH is a great anime and Manga. though i think the anime only last upto grid island arc. (im not sure).. The manga stopped around march or february last year (2006).

If it is going to continue.. i think i must read the late chapters again for me not be lost.. I think what will come next is their going to attack the enemy base.. weee.. it made me wait more than a year.. this should be great!

I have to say out of the two I did prefer the XXXholic anime mainly because I like that sort of spooky stuff.

It's about a group of people that investergate haunted buildings to see if they are really haunted. It's very funny espically when the different specialist start arguing among themselves about whats really going on. It's also pretty creepy in places which is never a bad thing ion my opinion.

But today I've read a lot of manga :) first read all the Mx0 scans that are out and I must say it's a really great serie :D

and second serie I've read today is Blame! which I must say was confusing as hell but I can't decide if it was good or not :P my first sci-fi manga and a lot of the stuff in it was great, good combats and showed many interesting ways how the future may end up in a loooooong time from now :P but there was basically no plotline at all >< think i must read it again in a few months time and see what I get from it then ^^

Black God: Black God is about a computer programmer who meets a Mototsuitama (divine spirit) over a bowl of ramen and loses an arm because of it. He wakes up the next morning with the arm intact and discovers that every person has a doppleganger and some even have a triple liner.

It seems pretty good, Null releases it:p

I mostly read Shounen and Shoujo. xD I just love the cheesy slice-of-life series. I love the plots to Shounen series, but I sometimes find myself bored out of my freaking skull when the characters are fighting. (o__o) So I can't really call myself a Shounen fan, can I? (>___>) Well, in some series, I like looking at the characters fighting, but in series like Bleach, I like skimming through it (it takes them so damn long to finish one fight. T^T)

Seinen; almost all manga I read is seinen. Dark; the darker the theme, the better. Psychological; it's just somehow so great. Cyberpunk; high tech and low life. Martial Arts; realistic, not the Baki kinda manga.

Few mangas I like:

Shamo; seinen, dark, psychological, martial arts.
Nijigahara Holograph; seinen, dark psychological.
Vagabond; seinen, martial arts, historical.
Homunculus; seinen, dark, psychological.
BLAME!; seinen, dark, psychological, cyberpunk.
MPD Psycho; seinen, dark, psychological.
