I enjoy the movies but the books is a major pain in the ass to read and I like to read books. I don't know, I think the reason for me not liking the books is because it feels so slow and stuff when you read the books.

Oh I've read the books (hobbit and 3 LOTR) and watched the movies too many times. Have you guys seen the extended editions? They are each about an hour longer than normal, but so worth watching. Oh- and I've read the Silmarillion. But I agree Dark Blood, they are sometimes a pain to get through.
Have any of you heard of Bored of the Rings (a book) or The Secret Diaries of the Fellowship?

Nope, never heard of 'em. :p I've never finished a LOTR book but I've finished the Hobbit, that book was awesome. :p

Yeah it was good, but it bugged me that all the dwarf names ryhmed. Boin, Gloin, Doin etc. Here's a link to the diaries. I think they've added some since I've read them...http://www.ealasaid.com/misc/vsd/

I hate the movie ><
the book is perfect (and my favorit of all times) but the movie I hate. It totally destroyed the book. grrr! kill peter jackson! kill eliah wood! :mad2:

Why don't you like the movies fishcake? They change a few things: make Faramir seem like a jerk, make Frodo a loser hobbit, and they change up a few things like Shelob for instance, but I'm curious as to why you hate them so much. Please tell me?

I like the movies more than the books. The books, gneh. They make my fantasybook-loving heart break. :p

Concerning the characters:
-Faramir is made a jerk, just like Boromir, in the movie they look quite pathetic.
-Frodo is played by Eliah Wood. That should be enough to make me puke
-Frodo&Sam look like some kind of a gay couple
-Aragorn looks like a jail fugitive or a bum
-Why must every dwarf talk with scotsman accent?
-Why must every male elf look like they've got something stuck in their ass?
....

Concerning the plot:
-Too much credit given to Arwen - she did NOT save Frodo from the Nazghul, Frodo was brave enough to stand up for himself, and Peter Jackson made him look like a wuss grrrr
....

Yeah many of those I agree with. Except i though Viggo Mortensen was the perfrect actor.

I'm not referring to his acting skills, but Jacksons idea of Aragorn.He's not supposed to look that wild and awful...

Absolutely loved the books and the movies.
Favourite book was the Silmarillion, just amazing to dwell into the past of Hobbit/LOTR.

Ok fishcake, that's reason enough to hate it, I do agree with all those things except that I love aragorn. I just think the movie makes the battles a lot clearer. It ticks me off that they make Faramir seem evil when he is perfectly nice in the books. And that Frodo seems evil in this and Sam like the hero, when Sam actually tried on the ring in the book and realized how hard it was and stuff.... So yeah, the movie's have issues, but I still really like them.

I love the Simillarion. It's so interesting. It's basically the beginning of the world (the first age)- they aren't even in middle earth. It shows the storiesof the... eldar I think they are called? It's hard explain because it breaks off into random side stories. And it's confusing because hardly anyone ever dies and they are all immortal so there are tons of characters. But I really liked it XD
