View Full Version : Blood - Is it wrong to cut?

Tiberiusfury

Ever since I started reading and watching Rosario+Vampire (I've watched the series and reread the manga several times) I've had a little bit of fascination with blood.

This is strange because, as recently as a couple years ago, I was sickened by the sight of it.
Now, I can't help but think if I were Tsukune, I'd want Moka to suck my blood.

I don't consider myself a masochist, and I'm not remotely emo or goth or even otaku. But out of boredom, I've found myself making cuts with my knife on my hands, arms, and upper legs. They're not very deep, but they're usually enough to draw blood.

Is this really strange? Has anyone else developed an interest in blood after reading the series?

WTF

Dude you need help. If you said you read Hellsing and developed a fetish for blood, I might have nodded and said yeah I understand, but R+V???

I think it is strange...(but I shouldn't say anything cause my behaviour changed over the years a lot. I remember when I was little I was afraid of vampires and such stuff. Nowadays I think vampires are cool. Immortality and eternal youth/beauty would be great... ^^)

About your cutting: I hope you'll stop it cause if you cut too deep you can get ugly scars.

Tiberiusfury

I haven't gotten any scars, and I'm not exactly a big fan of pain.
Most of the cuts I've had heal within a couple days.

I just love the blood!

Yeah, I've had thoughts of interest towards blood since reading the series, but please refrain from cutting yourself; blood is not a toy. It may seem harmless at first, but trust me on this, it CAN consume you.

If you are really interested in blood, I suggest you study up on it like I have. Teach yourself about bloodtypes, and find out what yours is. Or maybe even do something constructive with your blood like donating it.

:)

Actually, I'm a 3rd year student double majoring in Microbiology and Neurobiology, so I know quite a bit about blood genotypes and phenotypes, and the potential contaminants that can occur from blood contact with other people.

I also tend to clean my keyboards, mice, and knife with alcohol periodically, so I'm pretty safe there.
I don't really mean it to seem like I'm some emotionally wrecked kid cutting myself to get attention or anything like that. It seems silly to me occasionally, this sudden fascination with blood and vampires, but I think it makes life a lot more interesting.

Still, it's safer not to cut. You say now that they heal within a few days because you only make shallow cuts, but if you keep doing it, it'll become a habit, and cut deeper because you're not satisfied with the blood you do see. You could seriously hurt yourself. It's never a good thing to be so fascinated with blood that you're intentionally hurting your body, no matter how minor the damage may be.

DucksMcteeth
08-17-2008, 09:08 AM
Hm, you are indeed a rare case :P. Well, since you are obviously educated about it, I can't suggest any way for you to stop this. I can't say I approve of turning your body into a test subject, but as long as it's a clean cut... But still, it might become stressful on your body.

You bring up a very interesting subject. Welcome to the forums BTW. I'm tired, but maybe I'll comment some more tomorrow. ;)

WTF! i have no interest in blood after reading a manga and how can you??? No offence mate but i have never seen or heard anyone have a interest for blood but i can give you some advice "Don't go emo" lol

MidnightTide

Yes, I would love moka to suck my blood - that would be epic. But a fascination with blood itself, no (don't get sick over seeing it either, and I have seen lots in my life - ie: saw the aftermath of a woman getting her throat cut, not really a pleasant sight)

If you want to cut yourself, well - whatever rocks your boat.

But back to vampires - if there was female vamps out there, I would be in some serious trouble.

Read about it in the spoiler, I know kids frequent the forum, and they really don't need to be reading how crappy the world can be.

Ok, was driving downtown (where I live, with my girlfiend in the car) and there was about 10 people surrounding this women - the traffic was slowing down, and I saw a woman lying on the ground - and someone had cut her throat, from ear to ear - blood was all over the place. No one was attempting to help her so I stopped the car (my g/f at the time was a nurse) - I called 911 while she checked her vitals - she was dead (and no, I didn't let my g/f do CPR since there was blood all over the place, and there is a lot of drugs / HIV downtown - and the ambulance was like 2 minute drive away) Heck, someone could have called 911 before I got to the scene - but thats the way some things are these days, no one gets involved.

Interesting is not necessarily better.

On the subject of blood and the fascination of it, I too am fascinated and do enjoy the taste of it, especially if it has a lot of iron in it, but cutting your is not good, I've had a friend who has attempted suicide twice. But I also understand that you have heared what I'm saying many a time before.

But to draw blood safely would be best.

Finally, I will say my anti suicide tip that I give my friends if I can't stop them from cutting themselves, "Remember: Across the street, not down the road!"

Nanja korya?! I've always been fascinated with blood, kind of liked the taste and stuff like that but I've never cut myself for the purpose of drawing blood.
R+V ain't even a bloody manga and it's not so very focused on blood either.

1. Stop cutting yourself, atleast if it's alot of cuts and often
2. Start hunting, aloooot of blood when you kill a moose.
3. Get a hobby so you won't become bored and cut yourself
4. Don't care about what we say and do as you want, whatever floats your boat man.
5. Blood is tasty

Burning Willow
09-27-2009, 12:39 AM
or maybe it's emo people who made cutting people emo cutting used to me some hard-core stuff back in the 50-90's reserved for druggies and mental patients....which is some serious crap if you think about.

but cutting yourself just because of fictional characters just might be slight insanity dude >.> but isn't really uncommon now a' days and I'm no one to judge I'm very hypocritical ^.^

worst if you have a scar in your wrist, YOU WONT GET A JOB

since may companies are strict

Burning Willow
10-12-2009, 02:32 AM
well I think if you at a strict company you wear suits and and long sleeved dress shirts and if the scars are still visible wear a wristwatch with a thick band or if you're going with a company with casual dress codes just wear sweatbands
if the worst comes just cover it up with some make-up and a bit of powder to make it less noticeable

Edit God I know to much about this subject *despair*

kyokoxren
10-12-2009, 03:47 AM
ummm ya thats probably bad... i would stop cuz its kinda weird... and probably not healthy... but maybe thats just me... i literally cant cause my body harm on purpose so i dont really get it

Yasu

worst if you have a scar in your wrist, YOU WONT GET A JOB

That is very true.

Not too many companies these days want people that have violent backgrounds. They seem to want people who are pretty decent and have a nearly perfect background.

Although, hiding the scars that one inflicts on themselves is something that can be easily accomplished if one knows how to apply the right makeup to match the skin tone of their body.

TigersDemon
10-12-2009, 05:40 AM
though that does depend on the severity of the scar...

TennyoAkana

I can understand the fasnication with blood, I think about it constantly myself. When I was in PE I had to run the mile and each time I go further out the image in my head to keep me going was blood being filtered through a tube. Dunno why....

But yeah don't cut yourself...I mean it's bad enough that I pick my scabs to see blood. If you're interested in blood then you should read some more gory/horror manga. Or even watch some Hollywood horror films. They think they can make up plot with buckets of blood. =.=; I recommed Hostel and Wax House.

Yasu
10-12-2009, 01:50 PM
That still doesn't solve the problem with wanting to cut one's self.

Some people tend to cut themselves because it is something that they can do. They don't mean to cause any harm to anyone else. They are just doing something that seems alright to themselves, while still trying to survive in the harsh world around them.

bakaneko
10-13-2009, 03:37 PM
then if your diligent enough putting make-up on the scar, everyday in work

wow you must like the job very much . good luck with that haha

B-One
10-13-2009, 04:23 PM
Ok I can somewhat understand the blood thing...even If I don't actually feel that way.

As for the cutting in itself, there is not just the blood here. Some people are just as interested in blood as in pain. Pain will make your brain secrete endorphins which will give you some kind of buzz (kinda eased down th metabolism facts here). And some people are adicted to that feeling. Sometimes it's a way to escape reality. Some children and some teenagers with a rough childhood were known to cut themself. When asked why they said that it made them feel better inside.

There is also that masochist thing, some people really do have a slim edge between pleasure and pain. So by having pain, it can bring up just a super-pleasure. (doesn't work on everbody obviously, don't punch your partner just before a climax lol)

So those are the other reasons I could see for someone to cut(/hurt) themselves... even if I don't understand the need of doing those things, I understand them:p.

anyways, what I hate about idiots such as these is that original vampires aren't actualy smt you're supposed to like, yes, immortality and great abilities but at the cost of what?? if you think it's cool to throw away your humanity and sunlight and normal everyday life for immortality(and not beauty mind you) then you're an idiot, it's that all these new movies and series that show vampires as normal ppl is a LOL, them being beautiful(yeah if they were born as models with great genes when they were humans), not to mention them being able to go into sunlight all of a sudden too and the thirst of blood being managable is a serious LOL, the vampire mith lost it's core....it's like there's no trade when you become immortal and superhuman LOL

well is well know that humans through history always have wanted immortality, starting whit ancient civilizations like Egypt through modern day religions, like Christianity, we want immortality, and even in fiction is fascinating, plus give you superhuman abilities and beauty. Thats why vampires stories are so popular now days, it show a normal human coming in contact whit vampires, and then becoming one, or figth to become one, is alluring in my eyes, even for me. about the original myth, is still there, but people will try to fit vampires as a source of immortality, whitout to much draw backs, in fictional stories ^^
