Hi, I just gave it a try and these are some of the results.

I tried to post it here but they are too big and I didn't wanna further decrease its size... call it a problem of mine...

Ya so there are 2 cleans that I did, and one piece which I set type for, total 3 files and the link is @

http://www.mediafire.com/?bvxhcmjqkd1

Hope U can download it.

BTW the cleans took about 30mins each but I still can't really get the amt of noise to zero. But I am very slow in type setting, took another 30mins for type. Not to mention my font library is very limited...

So ya hope that helps... Cya

While i'm still learning myself (especially on cleaning), I can point you out to some places that can help you with your concerns.

For decreasing file size, Makhan posted this great tutorial about that here (http://www.franky-house.com/forums/showthread.php?t=201). You don't even have to use pngcrush to get pages that are considerably smaller.

As for your fonts, there are plenty of sites out there with free fonts and they are easy to install. The best sites I have found so far are www.blambot.com and www.dafont.com.

I will try to help you get rid of your problems:

read this (http://www.franky-house.com/forums/showthread.php?t=201)

read this (http://www.franky-house.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144); at the end, after using NeatImage and levelling for the second time, use burn tool (set to shadows and about 50%) to get rid of dust on black parts and dodge tool (set to highlights and about 40%) to get rid of dust on white parts

But I am very slow in type setting, took another 30mins for type. Not to mention my font library is very limited...

Two more advices:
1) don't align text to the left, center it
2) text can't touch the bubbles, if it is touching it, make it smaller

Read the tutorials I posted links to and your cleaning will improve much :) (It improved in my case, or so I think :D)

Ok thanks! I will give it a try. Been trying to download pngcrusher but I have questions... I am using a Mac for most of my works (the PC at home is too loaded to contain anything new) but I can't really get any of GNU-Darwin to start a download... (ok I have a poor working relationship with all softwares...) Any ideas?

Will try to get NeatImage or the other softwares ASAP.

Then there is the question, how long do we get to finish a speedscan? (deadline = I am obsess with it) Think I have to fine tune my typesetting but I WILL try!

Thanks and Cya

We don't have such thing as deadline. We need to make it as fast as we can, as good as we can :D So we start typesetting immediately after translation shows up (on raw, we're saving it as psd files and when the cleaning is done, we just move text layers on the clean pages). You don't need to worry about that, if you're slow, start with Naruto or Bleach (Bleach doesn't have much text, besides there are a lot of other groups that are doing these two series) and don't take whole chapter, but only half, or just 5 pages (I'm usually starting cleaning with first 5 pages, after I'm done if there are still free pages I'm taking next 5 and so on. :)
And train, it's the best way to improve yourself :)

I think veni-sama said png crusher isnt necessary. if you follow the save for web directions it should be enough.

Will try to get NeatImage or the other softwares ASAP. Go for neatimage. Even blud suggests you use neat image in his tutorial - which is posted here

From what i have seen when one person alone is working on chapter, time isnt a factor. But when two or more people are working on it and there are translations out they usually finish everything including typesetting in about 4-7 hours. Time will be less if the translation is out first.

Yay, u ready now, good :D. but i have to ask question -- how can you join if you not show/submit any pages?

After we post the links and tutorials above, what you do is show your improvement or show that you apply what the tutorials teach. if you not show this (ie submit pages you clean yourself) then how anybody gonna believe and know you ready to clean?

Yeah, it's like kenjimaru said
Clean these (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZC6RMU9O) (RS mirror (http://rapidshare.com/files/61996668/random_raw_pages.rar)) pages and after you're done, post them here and send a pm to Venicia (that you posted your cleanings here and you want to join the Speedscan Crew).

Silver, welcome to the team. But not yet. Please try your hands on a page or two using the tutorials you were directed to.

Clean them and then typest. During typeset do not look at an exisitng release to guide you. Only use the tutorials on typesetting for reference.

U can use any pages from this weeks releases (Naruto and bleach are some of the easiest to start with)

Sorry to say this but I can't sownload from either of the sites, MU and RS have never been my cup of tea. Dont you know of Mangahelpers- that famous site. For this weeks raws Go Here (http://Get%20all%20your%20latest%20raws%20on%20MH%20-%20go%20here%20%5Burl=http://mangahelpers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=128#mainforum). Visit the threads for the series whose pages you are going to use. One Piece, Naruto, or Bleach. Select two pages. and work on them.

Ya I will get down to cleaning them. No promises on typesetting but I will give it a try.

The most important thing for anyone who wants to join a new team is to show the team that you are really interested and that you were not just speaking out of thin air. To show your interest, is to be willing to do what you came to do with enthusiasm. Meaning lapping up and following every direction or step to show your possible team members that you really want to learn and join them.

if you want to clean/typeset, you have to start from somewhere. if it is cleaning you want to start with go ahead. Learning both typesetting a nd cleaning may take too long if you are just beginning. So go with cleaning for now.

ok, thanks i hope you find the link i posted in my post above. I bolded it just now so you can see it better

Give it a shot. I will be waiting. As much as any beginner puts in effort they will easily learn. Nothing is easy. In cleaning only practice will make you progress. Only practice especially for beginners.
