I am wondering why there's been a change to the maximum sizes of avatars and signatures.
I personally dislike the change because I think that 80x80 is too small for an avatar and 500x100 makes the signature too thin.
But then again I think like that mostly because when I make an avatar or signature I use the previous maximum sizes 100x100 and 500x180 pixels.
So, basically this thread is created because I would like to know why this change were made and if there's a chance that it'll be changed back to the previous sizes.

I think the webmaster is better to answer this. He know more about this than me.

To preserve space for posts, not huge signatures that take some people maybe 20+ minutes to download. Although not too many people yet have massive signature sizes, there may be a day when someone gets bored and wants to have a signature 1000px by 1000px. This is honestly nothing worth complaining about, but it's possible the webmaster may have another reason.

That would be great if you did. Because if I remember correct, the maximum size for signatures were 500x180, OR 500kb, that's one hell of a picture.
So if the signatures had a tendency of being enormous that would be because of the maximum size of 500kb.
Edit: Read the rules and noticed that there it says that the maximum sizes is the previous that we had.

Hmm they are restored but it doesn't seem to work. If you take a look you'll see that both my signature and avatar is blurred and resized..
