I looked around and I think I didn't see a thread about this manga/anime. I'm currently reading the manga and I also watch the anime I just wanted to know if this series has other fans since I like it very much though the scanlations are not complete.

Taken from mangaupdates
The samurai didn't stand a chance. First, the aliens invaded Japan. Next, they took all the jobs. And then they confiscated everyone's swords. So what does a hotheaded former samurai like Sakata "Gin" Gintoki do to make ends meet? Take any odd job that comes his way, even if it means losing his dignity...

Well even if the description is like this it's pure comedy

I love Gintama but it really isn't as populer as some of the other Jump manga/animes. It's a shame because it really is a lot of fun.
I really like the Shinshengumi they always make me laugh.:)

yup I also love shinsengumi and Gintama isn't popular here though it's very popular in Japan it can match the big three in popularity

I think it's mainly because it's a parody anime and so a lot of the jokes don't really make a lot of sense unless you know what they are a parody of.

yup and it hardly has a plot so it may seem weird for others but it's really great

A strong 9, ^^ I also though that it would be nice to have this thread, but I guess yami, beat me in this one.

I haven't read the manga, but I saw the anime till ep 39 and I can say that It was pretty interesting, the combination of samurai and jokes are hilarious. Not to mention that Moron Ninja Bitch ^^

9/10 too it looks serious at first but it would just become pure comedy and parodies the anime even imitates other animes

I'd give it a nine as well. I don't usually like parody anime but this one is a lot of fun.

it actually gets pretty serious as the manga progresses. I hope they write that part in the show too

9/10 It has a nice change of pace with each arc but are spaced out with good comical episode that the series is know for, personally I consider myself a hijikata-tan fan although I'm switching okita fan because of the recent arc

Read it recently... and watched the anime but i'm kinda dissapointed in the way the mangaka is giving away Gin/Zura/Sakamoto's past. Reading the manga doesn't give you the feeling of reading the plot but slowy reading filler by filler. We have 272 chapters without a clue of Gin's origin, youth or anything like that. Only that he was picked by a Sensei who learned him the way of the bushido.

The manga is funny, i don't disagree.. but want the manga following the plotline with many fights which show Gin's potential, the action in Gintama is actually better then the fights in most of the Shounen and that's what kinda suprised me.

Gin vs Assasin with the dark sword
Gin vs Van Hossen
Gin vs the spider fellow

Awsome fights, i'd wish we had some more of this and lesser useless arcs like hard boiled... wtf <_< that was some real bullshit.
