Soul Eater

Soul Eater (ソウルイーター, Sōru Ītā? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Japanese)) is a manga (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manga) written by Atsushi Okubo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atsushi_Okubo) and serialized in the magazine Monthly Shonen Gangan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monthly_Shonen_Gangan). It was first released as 3 separate one-shots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-shot_%28comics%29) in 2003 and became a regular series in 2004. Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the Shinigami (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinigami), they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch. The series is being made into an anime (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime), which started Monday April 7, 2008, and is animated by Bones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bones_%28studio%29).
I watched the first episode yesterday, I like it.
The anime has a different way of how it looks compared to what I'm used with.
I'm thinking of downloading the manga, but I haven't looked for it yet.

Update: Pretty good first episode and I have to agree that the animation quality is nice.

I knew she wasn't going to be a witch but I wasn't expecting a cat. Of course the whole 9 lives thing lets her continue being around. I didn't expect them to just pick someone to attack, I figured they would go after a supposed witch that was doing bad things and not attack someone who was minding their own business.

It doesn't have much direct action but the action "behind the scenes" the battles between Light's and L's brains is amazing.

Actually compared to some of the other things on this season I wouldn't even consider this ecchi so far (as you all well know ecchi isn't exactly something I look for in an anime). I am not going to really comment on the story yet since we have one more episode for introducing the rest of the main characters before we will find out how deep the story will be.

But its not like you don't have enough choices of other things to watch so I can't say i blame you if you stop watching since you're not enjoying it.

As for me I shall continue on since I am enjoying it and I plan on reading the Manga as well.

Chrona is Ragnarok's meister, and was initially under Medusa's orders (and control) to take any soul they find, be it evil or good. Chrona is a very naïve and submissive person who is constantly pestered by Ragnarok in the form of noogies and threats to eat his or her share of food. Chrona does not like to fight but Medusa normally introduces a spell into her mind that increases her aggression. Chrona has ambiguous gender, and while he or she is known to be Medusa's "own child", it is not specified whether Chrona is a daughter or a son. Chrona's blood has been entirely replaced with 'black blood' which both protects her from physical harm and provides a degree of healing. Ragnarok, originally a normal weapon, was melted into the black blood before the transfusion, which causes their Siamese nature. She is taking trial courses at Shibusen so she learn the proper way of by a meister, it was discovered that she is so negative about everything that when she wrote a poem it was so negative it even manage to make Black Star, Maka, Marie, and Soul depressed with just a glance. She is trying to adapt to interacting with more people which may take some time because of Medusa's abusive treatment of her, she normally stays in a corner of any room she's in and will cower in said corner if she feels like she did something wrong or is giving the slightest hit. So far she mostly interacts with others but only when Maka is with her, since Maka can easily tune in to Chrona's soul wavelength to understand and calm her when needed.
