Mahoujin Guru Guru by Hiroyuki Etou

Description:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mah%C5%8Djin_Guru_Guru
for the lame boring description.

Or, a better description I'd like to use to gain your interest:

Dated back in 1994, Guru Guru is not one of the most elegant words you've seen but if you actually know what it means then you'll understand why they call it Mahoujin guru guru. Guru Guru is a very powerful dark magic that one of the main characters (Kukuri) has. She is the only of her kind that still exists. She joins the other main character Nike (Nee-kay), not the sports brand, on a journey to fight and defeat the evil monster Giri.

Nike is the main protagonist, forced by his parents to be a "hero"/warrior when he wanted to be a magician instead, he seems very useless but is extremely lucky and usually relies on Kukuri to save his butt.
Guru Guru is a type of magic where the user uses a staff to draw circle patterns on the ground to summon whatever. This makes things interesting because any pattern can summon anything. And as Kukuri is a newbie at this, she makes many hilarious mistakes.
The series uses an RPG format, new to for the time of its release, and was very fresh because of it.
With many gags like the useless items they receive from their quest-givers (like the "Disappointing Sword").

Mahōjin Guru Guru is a light-hearted series aimed at older children, although it contains occasional toilet gags and some innuendo that might startle western parents, it is what I believe to be classic for everyone.

Weird and Interesting things to look forward to: Each time there is some sort of romance scene, characters are usually drawn distorted (suppose to be 20X more beautiful than they are suppose to be). Hula skirt wearing, hairy old man who likes to dance and annoy people tags along with the main characters and disrupts battles as a running gag. Two main character wannabes, a magician and a warrior as well, disrupts battles much like Team Rocket of Pokemon.

This series is full of surprises.

This is a chlid classic to me. The anime was hilarious, but it never ends unlike the manga. I'd love to see it translated and shared with everyone. Please let me get lucky...
