While its a long time since I was in school I never had an allowance so it didn't matter. I did good in school and I never studied, yes I was one of those people. I could have done even better but school was too boring for me and I personally think that they teach things too slow. College was better but I ended up going to a Catholic university and because of that I had to take other classes that bored me. I am not Catholic either.

Thats why if I have kids someday I want them to be able to learn at a pace that is right for them and not some predetermined pace that supposedly works for everyone.
