I'm not really sure they would have him back even if hw did try to go back after all he betrayed the village and joint with the enemy. I wouldn't let him back in the village as I wouldn't be able to trust that he wouldn't so it again.

And itachi is DEAD!!!! I TELL YOU!! He's DEAD LIKE A SQUASHED BUG!! He was already hurt before the fight, that was why he went down so early. In the beginning I had though he had become weak, but it seems he had another fight or so before the one with Sasuke that weakened him.
