I am shocked Kenichi has no discussion thread. Well now I shall make one. If you don't read the manga or have not watched the anime do it. Kenichi is hilarious and has good action. Now that the sales pitch is over I will start off with discussion of chapter 105.

My favorite part of 105 was seeing Shigure pwn the valkyries with a spoon. That is just classic awesomeness right there. Kenichi has a Naruto thing goin on where he shows the bad guys the right path. That is probably one of my favorite things about this series (it is quite evident when you see Kisara leave Ragnarok).

I'm looking forward to the upcoming chapters. I don't read japanese but from what I can see we are gonna get to witness how Appachai joined Ryouzanpaku. I'm not generally a fan of flashbacks but 1 this one just looks good and 2 it is nice to see some stuff that wasn't in the anime.

So, what do you guys think are gonna happen next? (after the anime discussion is fine but if it is a spoiler please use spoiler tags) What was your favorite part of the current chapter? least favorite?

I like the anime but after it was finished I started reading the manga from the beggining and the thing that pissed me off was the horrible art in HSD Kenichi... so I kinda droped it XD
I mean it's a good manga judging by the story but the art was just baddddd...so to anyone that can read a manga with bad art I'd recommend it :D

The art at the beginning of the manga is not the greatest I will agree with that. but it seems like the mangaka hit his stride like 20 chapters in. I feel some of the stuff in the scans I am doing currently is superior to some of the huge mangas (Bleach and Naruto for example). But I guess it is just a matter of taste

Bleach and Naruto do a lot of drawing on the computer while as I remember it HSDK doesn't - I'm not sure, maybe later on they used computers as well XD

Well I think that maybe in around 1-2 years there will be a new season...the manga is too far away from the ep 52..so they have material, to make new eps :)

I haven't heard anything about a second season. Which is weird cause supposedly the dvd sales were through the roof. It's possible that while dvd sales were great it still didn't get good ratings on tv. But as of now a season two is not in the works. But believe me I wish it was

maybe they are planning to but they must wait until the story finish first, well if the first season is a hit but the second season is a failure, the anime is becomes a failure you know....
well, the anime ends in a proper way, so for those who are anime lovers dont feel to urge to see the next season or something.... but I really urge to see what happen to the relationship between miu and kenichi..... and want to see Nijima more..... he is a talented person with a face of an alien.......

This series has some great characters but Kenichi made me drop the anime at somepoint while watching it. He was incredibly whiny at the beginning and he also had that ridiculous no-hitting girls policy. Kenichi was also very didactic.

There is enuff manga chapters for another 50 anime episodes so it must be that the ones who did the anime doesnt want to do more.

I think you should keep reading Anon, the arts get better later, you can check out some late chapters for reference if you like.

I actually just picked up this series by chance like two days ago because I really needed something to read, and I've already finished reading up to ch179. I really really like this series. ^^ Probably a lot of people think it is better to watch the fights, but I've always thought that manga lets the imagination take over a lot more, and allows room for variations. ^^ Since I was in Tea Kwon Do myself for nine years, I love watching Kisara fight, it's very nostalgic, haha. Although Kenichi is quite a whiner as someone said earlier, I don't really mind, because he grows a hell of a lot over the course of the manga.

edit: by the way, is HSD Kenichi licensed in the U.S. yet?

Hmm, I also did Tae Kwon Do. I took it up for about three years. I pretty much quit a little while after I got my black-belt. And yeah I remember in the beginning of HSD Kenichi was crying because "after training so hard" he still couldn't beat that first black-belt picking on him. I believe the "hard training" was only for about a few days (even if it was difficult), not to mention he was starting from scratch against an opponent who probably has a few years under his belt. He was also a big guy compared to Kenichi.

At another point in the series a girl had his sister at knife-point. Instead of confronting his useless chivalry of "no-hitting girls," somebody else steps in and knocks her out. How ridiculously convenient for Kenichi eh?

Anyway if the anime had better protagonist I might've liked the anime/manga because most other characters were pretty entertaining.

Yap, this manga is quite something . I like the guy a lot and also the trainers . You can't compare him with Baki , for example , :P he is all sort of another kind of guy . He has a cute sister and nice parents .O f course there are any convenient things here - Miu is beating with girls , his enemies are helping him in strange modes and so on. I like a lot the comedy facts in his daily training .

i started reading hsdk and dropped it due to lack of interest ,but a few weeks ago i went back and reread it defiantly is worth the read the comedy they throw in balances nicely for me. ^^ I can't wait to see what comes next

things might be convenient for kenichi, but at the same time, he is starting to have face fighting girls on his own.

for people who haven't read this far, don't want to spoil it for you but
he had to face that pig-tail girl, spark, from yomi, and he took her down without hurting her, and without miu being able to interfere as much, so I don't think that his morals will get in the way of him fighting so much anymore as he learns more and more ways to take down opponents and gains more experience in general

yer now when he fights girls he just uses jujutsu and pins them while trying not to hurt them which is pretty good, but i just dont like how he releases if there about to get hurt trying to escape.

I liked both Anime and Manga...unfortunately I got to see all the Anime episodes up till Odins fight first and then the Manga...I like both though...they should have continued the Animes as well...this is one of my top list favorite Manga...and I do not have any problems with the art as well...storiline is really good...no complains at all...:Hoppity_Hop:

so, reflecting on the latest chapters, I just wanna say that the last Yomi guy, the KIng, disciple of Guru, is the first opponent that doesn't look strong. They keep boasting about how dangerous penkak silat is but Kenichi, outnumbered and focusing on Miu, isn't really getting hurt by this guy.

Well, styles arent dangerous, people are. In this case Kenichi seems to be more then a match for the individual Yomi members, wich is pretty good as he will need to win against all of them and some may be stronger then the ones we have seen. Miu's life in the balance also pushed him to another level of effort.

yeah i think that this guy was fairly weak compared to the other members of yomi (and a cheap-o as well). But i expect alot stronger people in yomi and i think that even boris ikanov gave a better fight then this prince guy.

Was this in the anime? I haven't read of the chapters up to where the anime stopped yet, so I dunno if it was in the anime and I don't remember or if it was not in the anime.

Not for awhile. D & D is just part of the fight against Yami/Yomi. He will probably still have to face them for a bit. Also, its only one section. Also, Yomi has two parts. Ones that use fists and one that uses weapons. So I bet he will have to face all of them at one point.

Sho was supposed to be the top fighter and he was beaten by Kenichi. So the others "shouldn't" be to hard. But they will be. Kenichi still needs to grow alot. I am just hoping in the next couple of chapters his character development doesn't move back a step or two. I love reading but one thing that pisses me off is a character will make a emtional advancement but in the next chapter/book they are still struggling with it. They need to cut that out and leave Kenichi as a strong nice guy. With more confidance.

Well kenichi goes on a sword hunt with shigure and gets back his fighting instinct(at the end of that arc shigure smiles at him, she might have fallen for him but i doubt it ) then the whole year goes on a camping trip which are attacked by soldiers some kids and teachers are almost killed until siegfried,hermit and even the yomi twins defeat them, kenichi and boris joins forces to defend that female teacher then they fight eachother and kenichi wins. And some other stuff happens but i cant be bothered writing it and Ranka joins Kenichis school :D

Ive got to say this, and it breaks my heart but Kenichi ****ing sucks. I have always been rooting for him but after chapter 320 i cant stand it anymore. Takeda was training with his master for a few months and he is already at Kenichis level, whereas Kenichi has been training for a year and some months with 5 masters and he can barely fight Takeda. From the looks of it Takeda has also mastered the Flowing Water Seikuken. Just absolutely pathetic. :( In fact i hope Takeda wins and takes Miu then while Takeda bangs Miu, Kenichi can guard the door for Miu since that's what he seems to want to do so badly. Hopefully chapter 321 will change my mind, but i doubt it. Sorry about my little rant but its just so damn annoying.
