Well, because the Arrancar powered up from normal Vasto Lorde, the 13 squad captains would have lost against them because some captains are gone.

To fill that whole strength gap are there the vizards, who should be equally strong. As the Arrancars, but are few in numbers so the strength is about in balance.

Still locked away in his pocket dimension. Maybe he pops up now to challenge the SS captains. But i hope for a rematch Ichigo-Ulquiorra.

I think that Halibel has been waiting for this moment, Aizen leaving for Karakura town and ordering the remaining (strongest) Espada to keep the captains busy.

What intention should the Vizard have to stop Aizen? So far they have only expressed interest in Ichigo, nothing else. But i admit that we simply don't know enough about their goals.

Anyway there are also Ichigo's and Ishida's dad and Urahara and his gang. Some formidable opposition for Aizen, which makes me think that Aizen won't give anyone the chance to defend Karakura town.
