Newly in love with One Piece

Man, i can't believe i never wanted to read this. The art style always threw me off, and then, horror of horrors, i saw the english dub of the anime. I instantly hated Luffy's voice. Not too long ago, i got bored and decided reading a few chapters of OP would at least kill some time. Next thing i know, i'm hooked. And the chapter, "Tears"? Man, i almost cried. I've grown to like the art style, but im absolutely enthralled by the characters, story arcs, and just..gah. Man i love this series. Ive read all 400+ chapters in under a week..i love this series.

well 4kids pretty much killed the series with their lousy editting and dubbing lol

the art style threw me off at first too...oda didnt draw very nicely for the first 50+ chapters...i was taking it at a very slow pace (bout 10 chapters a day) up to alabasta arc and i finished the whole alabasta in a day XDD (from the cactus island -> little island -> chopper -> alabasta)

after that i pretty much get hooked on it...
and u just almost cried? well i cried twice, one for robin, one for merry ><
and after that i watched the anime starting from eps 1 lol

the anime was alright but it has quite alot of fillers so it gets alil boring sometimes...but it's still worth watching because of the awesome seiyuus (voice actors), of course i mean the subbed anime, not dubbed :p

so which arc do u like most?
for me it's enies lobby when luffy does his one man show XD

man, its hard for me to pick an arc. id have to say enies lobby myself, but then again...alabasta was good...and the arlong park...

as for me almost crying, thats saying alot. i havent cried since i was 7 lol.

haha, One Piece is amazing. And if you didn't get that really sad nearly cry feeling during Robin's back story you don't have a soul.

Thriller Bark is like already one of my favorite arcs to date, but enies lobby thing and skypiea (yes i really liked that arc.... and enel haha) are 2ndish prob.

Well....One Piece IS THE FOUNDATION FOR FRANKY-HOUSE SCAN'S EXISTANCE (cough cough where do you think Franky House came from?) If you came here for any of the other manga, thats cool, but One Piece is pretty much why this forum exists so yeah, of course it's good.

I was in the same boat as you. I first heard about One Piece (actually, I didn't catch the title) while watching an anime block on Canada's YTV network. I HATED it. I hated the characters, I hated the music, I hated the crappy puns. I didn't touch One Piece again for another year or two. Then, one of my friend recommends that I download this anime called "One Piece" to kill time. I started downloading, and to my horror, it was the same anime I saw a year or two ago. I instantly deleted it and asked my friend what he was thinking. He told me that the English version was the crappiest crap that ever crapped out of 4Kids' ass, so I gave it a try and I didn't like it too much until the Arlong arc. Then I got hooked. I started watching One Piece this June and finished watching all 318 episodes (at the time) sometime in September.

haha i remember watching it on the Bionix's block on ytv for the first time i saw one piece, and i remember thinking it was a little bad, but it was about pirates and stuff so i watched it more, and then i saw it had a sub forum on narutofan (i used to uber lurk there) so i ended up checking out subbed version and ya.
