Air gear is an awesome not-so-old of Oh!Great mangaka of Tenjou Tenge...and others. The art is really awesome. It's a Shonen full of battles and...fan services ^^. So here's a bit of info from wiki: Air Gear (エア・ギア, Ea Gia?) is a shōnen manga and anime by the mangaka Oh! great.

Air Gear is about the lives of Itsuki "Ikki" Minami and his friends along with the latest trend, Air Trecks. The early parts of the story carry out the introduction of characters that eventually join Ikki, and as the story progresses, it focuses on their roles as Storm Riders and their quest to be on the top of the Trophaeum Tower. It won the 2006 Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category.

Itsuki "Ikki" Minami, is a student and a delinquent. Also known as the "Unbeatable Babyface", Ikki is the leader of the youth gang by the name of "East Side Gunz". Upon his return home after being humiliated by a street gang of Storm Riders called the Skull Saders, Ikki discovers a secret hidden from him by his benefactors, the Noyamano sisters. The sisters belong to a group of Storm Riders who go by the team name of Sleeping Forest. In the anime, learning the sisters' secret angers him and he steals a pair of Air Trecks, abbreviated as "AT". (In the manga, the sisters give a pair of ATs to him and invite him to skate with them.) Ikki eventually settles his grudge with the Skull Saders, but in the process he receives more than the simple satisfaction of revenge. Determined to experience the sensation of "flight" for as long as he can, Ikki is quickly sucked into the mysterious, irresistible world of Air Trecks.

I personnaly thought that the anime sucked, I only watched the first two episode. It was just messed up...it wasn't the same story at all. The manga is pretty good though.^^

I'm really enjoying the manga so far. I'm about half way through the scans so far and it really is a lot of fun. I espically like Akito he always makes me laugh when he's in a scene.

I've read like 130-140 chapters or so, but I have really mixed feelings for this manga. Sometimes the entire "AT-world" seems so stupid, cuz' most of them are kids. And the ones who are sort of like "grandmasters" are all like in their early twenties. And the kids who are (I dunno, 13-14 years old?) speak in a really cheezy know-it-all way, it all seems so farfetched to me. And at times they use such weird metaphors!
This is what I disliked about Tenjou Tenge aswell.

Well enough about the pessimistic tone for now ;D
The things I like about this manga are for example the cute romances that occur, the cool art, the AT's obviously (Who wouldn't want a pair of those) and finally the whole "underdog" theme (which is very common in shounen-manga, isn't it ? xD) (Edit: + great humour and awesome characters)

Also, I want Kazu and Emily to start dating already!!!

I know what you mean about the kids acting like they know it all at such a young age but thats often what it's like with sports mangas dealing with teenages so I've kind of gotten used to it.
I really want those two to start dating as well. I think they would be really cute as a couple.

Well I entirely understand what you meen about the kid stuff and all^^. I always thought it looked a bit like when rock n roll started... The younger people kinda loved it and we're persecuted a bit by the older folks (their parent and such). Kazu is one of my fav character, I HATE ringo, and the other one from TTT, not kururu, the other biatche who stole you know what...(spoiler). I love Agito/akito's "****" XD.

its a fantasy manga, it is rife with gravity defying stuff, I happen to love this manga, and actually the anime too, it reminds me of a real life Jet Set Radio hahaha

Hmm, since I'm a Air Gear fan I'll write a post. First i watched the anime, and the first 2 episodes didn't make any sence at all, then it got better. Really love the Kazu vs Iron fight :P

Anyway, after having seen the anime you know there is so much more to come so started to read the manga and realized it's about 2 or 3 times as good as the anime, and the beginning made sense :O From that moment on I've been a dedicated AG fan :D

Well I DO like the manga, but it's REAAALLLY Cheezy, and lately the chapters are kinda sucking, what with those new lame ass AT'ers coming in to kill out of nowhere. And how come those guys are still alive (like iron clock) and working for the bad guys, and like latest chapter where the other guy like undo's the migratory birds clothes, she doesn't even complain about it, if they're gonna fanservice the character, then how about us <_<

and Lmao at the chapter where they were training at the waterfall, where they were throwing down their teacher, who actualy unstripped herself of the little tiny cloth she still had on, Daaayum, i wanted to be there. She's actually complaining that they might do something perverted or rape her or stuff, but she's the one unstripping herself (even in class) and wearing like a swiimming suit what only covers the SUPER crucial parts like the ****** and the crouch, you know, that thing.

AirGear is one of my favourites mangas. It has a great story thought the monologues can get confusing 'couz they use alot of metaphors. What I love about this manga is the art.

I read the manga first and then found out that there's an anime so I thought why not? I quit watching it after 9 episodes. It was a mess. Nothing compared to the manga.

SS isn't really that slow,, they are up to date with the raws it's just that they decided to wait with releasing to get a double release. (The last 2 chapters shouldn't be released seperatly so good choice SS imo)

Basically:

Sora revealed his true self because he began to fear the strength of Ikki and thought to himself that a full strength Ikki might not be beatable. Of course this coincides with Spitfire's death and thus the AT world was kind of thrown into disarray.

As a result of the revelation, Koga go to the mountains to train and while this is highly beneficial for some, it's not so beneficial for others. Upon their return, they attempt to continue their training but without AT and due to the fact that Flame Regalia was stolen while they were in the mountains, Kazu is depressed.

Kazu managed to get sucked into a cult and as it so happens, it's coincidentally the same cult that Ikki has begun working at pretending to be Loki. Ikki spots Kazu and attempts to use his job to reawaken/re-motivate Kazu. Kazu accepts Loki's (Ikki's challenge) and they battle it out in a game of tag. At which point we all see Kazu's Flame Road skills for the first time. He's defeated by Ikki and promises never to return to the cult again.

With the team all ready to battle now and everyone's spirits lifted. The 9th Toll of the bell rings to signal the start of the Grand Scale Tournament. And the first match is Sleeping Forest versus Genesis. It turns out that this is thanks to Haku hacking the system. Anyway Koga rush to complete their registration in the tournament but get there too late and as a result can't enter.

However it appears there's another way. They find out that if you defeat a team already entered, you can take their place. Thus they go looking for a team. Luckily though, they find out about a team they should try and that team is run by an Otaku. Sadly the Otaku turns out to be Falco (The Original Fang King) and he poisons them trapping them in the internet.

In order for Koga to enter the GST and take the place of Falco's team, they must beat Falco and his team. However the big surprise is that the team is made using the old READ data of the former Sleeping Forest members.

The anime corresponds to the chapters to about 90 I think. The anime ends when the story really begins to pick up, which is why I enjoyed it but did not love it. The anime is pretty close to the manga though. The current battle is going to get really intense I hope, and then there will be the arc about the battle between Genesis and Sleeping Forest.

Neither, it's kinda like an alternative version to the very early manga.
